Free Animated Travel Map Videos, Made in Your Browser
The ToolsFlash Travel Map Animator turns any trip into a shareable animated video. Plot up to 15 destinations, choose from 8 vehicles (plane, car, train, boat, bicycle, motorbike, helicopter or walking), then watch your route come alive on a cinematic 3D globe with real NASA Blue Marble satellite imagery — or switch to a classic flat map with four hand-tuned styles. Camera follow modes, adjustable tilt and automatic takeoff/arrival pauses give your clip a documentary feel with zero editing skill required.
Everything — the map, the animation and the MP4/WebM video encoding — happens locally on your device. No uploads, no account, no export limits. Perfect for Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts (9:16), travel vlog intros (16:9) or square social posts (1:1), at HD 720p or Full HD 1080p.
How to Create a Travel Map Animation
Add your destinations — search any city or place, or drop a pin anywhere on the map.
Pick your ride, map style, route color, duration (5–90 s) and aspect ratio.
Press play to preview, then hit Export video to download your MP4 or WebM.
Working with the exported frames? Shrink your clips' thumbnails with the Image Compressor, resize stills with the Image Resizer, or convert screenshots with the WebP Converter.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this travel map animator really free?
Yes. The Travel Map Animator is completely free with no sign-up, no export limits and no paid tiers. The entire animation and video encoding runs in your browser, so there are no server costs to pass on to you.
Are my routes or videos uploaded to a server?
No. Your route, settings and the exported video are all created on your device. Journeys are saved only in your browser's local storage. The one optional network feature is destination search, which queries the public OpenStreetMap Nominatim service.
What video formats can I export?
The frame-perfect renderer exports MP4 (H.264) where the browser supports it, falling back to WebM (VP9/VP8). A real-time quick-capture mode is available for older browsers. You can choose 720p or 1080p, in 16:9, 9:16 (vertical for Reels/Shorts) or 1:1 aspect ratios.
Does the animation follow real roads or flight paths?
No — all vehicles travel along direct great-circle paths between your stops. This is an illustration and storytelling tool for travel videos, not a navigation or routing service.
How many destinations can I add to one journey?
You can add up to 15 stops per journey, reorder them freely, and set the total animation length anywhere from 5 to 90 seconds. Mix vehicles by exporting multiple clips and joining them in any video editor.
